The Voice of Souls

Motivation and Background
Umi Nala Ihm Tcheng grew up in a difficult home that left her little room for her own choices. Her entire life, even her future, was dictated by her parents. There was almost no leisure time, and she was expected to marry the son of her father’s business partner to secure political and economic alliances. This fate to her seemed like a captive existence – one she sought to escape early on.
As a teenager, she decided to flee this world of control and rigidity. She escaped into a remote, forested mountain region, far from the rules and pressures of her former life. There she was soon found by a group of spiritual monks who invited her into their community. Since then, Umi has lived with them, preparing body, mind, and soul for a great purpose – though she still does not know exactly for what.
Umi does not primarily perceive herself as a physical being but as a soul residing in a body, connected through her spirit with all existence. This view shapes her entire way of thinking, acting, and seeking.
Her early experiences of neglect and restriction awoke in her a strong will and a yearning for true freedom – a freedom that transcends the body and lies in divine unity, in the harmony between individual personality and universal oneness. Her motivation is guided by the desire to fully discover, purify, and transform her inner core through theurgy as an act of divine practice.
Body
Umi has always subjected her body to an intense and disciplined training regimen. Every other day she trains to enhance her endurance and resilience. This training combines classical martial arts such as Tai Chi and Jiu Jitsu with personally developed movements that express her philosophy and understanding of body and mind.
Her preferred weapon is a combat staff with a spherical tip – her flexibility and precision with this instrument make her a skilled fighter. She also participates in weekly training sessions with the other monks, beginning at a self-built obstacle course in the forest. The course runs from the treetops up to a summit and demands not only physical agility but also mental focus and stamina.
For Umi, physical training is not merely self-defense but a sacred act that unites body, mind, and soul – a preparation for her divine theurgic practice, where the physical and spiritual paths merge inseparably.
Mind
Together with the other monks, Umi dedicates herself to deep mental preparation centered on the practice of theurgy as divine magic. Through targeted exercises and meditation, her mind is attuned to receive and channel higher divine energies. This practice demands devotion, discipline, and the continuous purity of thought and will.
Within the temple lies an extensive library where all monks pursue a shared study program. It includes general knowledge vital for communal life as well as individual studies that foster personal development and uniqueness. According to the monks’ wisdom, one must first fully know and live oneself before one can unite multidimensionally with others.
A key aspect of her mental work is research and strategic planning to live in harmony with spiritual principles and prepare for the future. This focus on long-term harmony and orientation reflects her desire not just to exist in the present moment but to perceive life as part of a greater divine plan to be understood and co-created.
Soul
For Umi, the care and transformation of the soul lie at the heart of her spiritual practice. Meditation serves to ease her soul and release it from the burdens of worldly concerns. In the spiritual sanctuary – a sacred space within the temple – she trains her magic through special exercises and rituals designed to channel divine light and strength within her.
Part of this practice involves voice exercises where Umi trains her speech and discovers new, powerful words that enable a deeper connection with the divine. These words and sounds act as bridges between the individual soul and the divine forces that flow through her.
The insights and powers she gains are shared among the monks to strengthen their communal bond. One of her foremost goals is to establish a telepathic connection with at least one other monk – one that transcends ordinary consciousness and expresses the spiritual unity of their brotherhood.
This journey of the soul is both transformative and demanding, requiring from Umi not only devotion and discipline but also openness, courage for self-confrontation, and the willingness to let go of old patterns. Theurgy teaches her that true power lies in merging with the divine – in the immortal motion of the soul through light, love, and authenticity.
