March-Mallows

On the planet Candy, in the heart of the peaceful Muffin Kingdom, the defense begins with an enthusiastic cry. Mel, the sweetest of all March-Mallows, is summoned by Queen Muffti from his home, the March-Mallow Marsh, to protect the Muffin Kingdom from inexplicable invaders. From temporary rifts in reality, living treats stream out of an unfathomable nowhere and threaten the peace of the land. So Mel sets off to gather his friends to stand by him in battle, to taste the salt of the sweet war together and face the bittersweet grudge of the enemies.

The game merges tactical puzzles in single-player missions with the depth of a real-time strategy game in multiplayer.

Duality of Sticky Assets

The March-Mallow unit forms the malleable foundation of every strategic decision. The single-player mode leads players from gathering to strategy, with challenges increasing step by step. Here, the player recruits the March-Mallows incrementally and learns the fundamental tactics of individual equipment to prepare them for the upcoming warfare. Every March-Mallow is a neutral matrix that achieves an immediate personification through a wealth of equippable items. The essence of the design lies in the arrangement and transformation of units, as buildings are melted from specific March-Mallow formations – a puzzle that becomes permanent infrastructure. The clear distinction between the role as a mobile unit and the role as building material is the central challenge of management.

Meltdown and Glazing

The keys to sweet expansion and the warding off of danger are inextricably linked to the sacrifice of units. Portals are sealed by melting March-Mallows and subsequently pouring them over the rifts. This act of converting soldier to substance is the heart of the defense. Strategic gameplay begins with the extraction of essential resources via base infrastructure and then revolves around the efficient production of March-Mallows. The calculated decision of whether the March-Mallow is deployed for further production, base expansion, defense or attack determines success. Since the campaign takes place in an open world, the constant return of portals at fixed points forces players into proactive, global planning of resource deployment across the entire map.

Competition in the Sugar War

In multiplayer mode, the strategic gameplay is expanded to a pinnacle of RTS engagement. Players utilize established production chains and the diverse possibilities of unit customization to either defeat their enemies directly in PvP competition or maintain a common front against AI invaders in cooperative PvE mode. The AI enemies are not static waves here, but also utilize building and production mechanics. Building an army of specialized, funny Mallows and the dynamic control over the production base are the decisive factors. The necessity to constantly reshape units guarantees a deep, repeatable gaming experience for strategic thinkers.
